Neurological & community rehabilitation, and falls prevention services

Neurological and community rehabilitation and falls prevention services provide care for patients with neurological or long-term conditions or who have experienced a stroke or a fall.

Services aim to assist patients with:

  • Gait re-education and falls prevention
  • Promoting independence with daily activities such as bathing, shopping and meal preparation
  • Returning to leisure activities
  • Communication or swallowing difficulties
  • Emotional difficulties
  • Cognitive difficulties such as memory and attention
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Fatigue management

Services are provided in both community and inpatient settings, by multi-disciplinary teams with expertise that includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, clinical neurological psychology. Teams also include dieticians and rehabilitation assistants.
